Where we are in place and time
At first I wondered if any one can be an explorer. Now I know that anyone can if they decide to do it. Marco Polo wasn't born an explorer he had a thought and then BAM, he was an explorer.I knew that exploration means you have to be a risk-taker and get out of your comfort zone. Now I know that Christopher Columbus wasn't the first to America. In fact he never set foot on the USA. When he brought the slaves back to Spain the Queen refused and made him return them!
Pedros Journal Reflection
Natives View |
I think that the Natives did not trust these "strange gods" because the Europeans started making them slaves. I know this because when the men came to trade they tried to capture them.

Christopher Columbus's View |
I think that he was pleased that the Natives trusted them. I think this because he wanted to make them slaves.

Pedro's view |
I think that Pedro was ashamed of what Columbus did when he took the slaves. Pedro wished that he never went to the journey. He thought that they should be free. My proof is that he described what he felt in the book.

European Explorers Report
Was Christopher Columbus really the first man to reach the Americas? What was it like exploring back in the day? All of your questions should be answered in my essay. I have facts about who was the first to set foot on America all the way to what hardships they endured.
When you went exploring you had to be strong, trustworthy and a good swimmer in case you fell overboard. If you were a captain you had to do your calculations right or your crew might hurt you or kill you. Some might turn to mutiny for a choice. Another problem was not having enough food/water or having it rot. Sometimes men would get seasickness.
One of the main reasons to explore was wealth. Christopher Columbus went to find pearls, spices and gold. Some went for royalty and respect. Others went to claim land. The more land you claimed, the more power you had.
Most people believe that Columbus was first to find America. Wrong! He didn’t even set foot on America. He actually went to the Bahamas. He also thought that Japan was nearby. When he brought back slaves, Queen Ysabel (Isabel in English) forbid it and made him return the natives!
